Howdy guys! I know this sounds like a silly question, but I'm tired of water dripping onto my power window switches every morning from simple dew running off of the roof.
Are there any window rain shields that do not use double sided tape to mount on? Something that snaps into the window channel maybe? I can't immagine putting tape onto the paint!

I don't know if there are any that snap in, but I do know that the tape does not go onto the paint.. I put them on my 99 SD CC and it gets stuck to the black rubber weather strip. They give you a scouring pad to rough it up then just peel and stick... They where still on after 6.5 years when I sold it. Probably still on..
I don't remember the brand, but theres a style available that slips into the window felt, and is held in by friction. Also, the 3m double sided tape won't touch your paint, when you want it gone just rip it off an dose it with a little adhesive remover.
Yes, auto ventshades makes both types; Auto Ventvisor (those that tape to the rubber window molding) and In-Channel Ventvisor (those that slip into the window channel).
I had the inchannel on my 03 and while they looked good I didn't care for them. I had the ones for the rear window fall out and the ones in the front window would rattle when the window was down about an inch. They also made the wind noise worse. I took them off when I traded it in but decided not to put them on my new truck. I bought the stick on for this one and like them better. Just my .02
Company called WeatherTech (just add .com, if you want to hit their home site) makes WeatherFlectors. They fit inside the window channel. Ran them on my Dakota Quad Cab for better than three years, and a year & change on the Super Duty...one of those products that are worth their weight in gold, IMHO.
There are a few that pop in. They are the only ones I like. I have "Vent-Shade" on my 06-250 & on my 91 toyota. The ones on my toyota have been on for 10 years. I bought the current ones this year for my 06 F250, got them at a local parts play's. However I have seen them & others in numerous catalogs.
Ill second the weathertech.....my wife has them, and so does my father in law. So far so good. She has had hers for 3 years, and he has had his about the same.
I'll be looking for the Weathershields--thanks all! If I can't find them, I won't have to worry about the paint either, guess it depends on which ones I find first in the parts stores now.
I've had both the in channel(on an old Mazda) and the kind you stick on the rubber(f150). Didn't like the fact that on the stick on ones you half to take sand paper to your 30k+ vehicle but they do stay on very well.
The drawback to the in channel ones is that the channel is designed to fit the window- add a couple millimeters of plastic in that channel and it becomes a pretty snug fit. Over time that part of the window that sits in the channel will get scuffed up.
Personally I prefer the ones that mount on the outside as I don't plan on removing them. Installed properly they don't touch the paint.
