I ask this because I had the E40D in my 96 F250, 460, rebuilt because it was slamming into 2nd and 3rd, sometimes not going into 3rd. This was at 46,000 miles and they blamed it on the TPS. I don't think the torque converter was replaced. Now you have to give the truck quite a bit of throttle to make it move from a dead start. I'm wondering if the torque converter is bad or even how to tell if it's on it's way out.
I've put 24,000 miles on it since the rebuild. When the transmission shifts to OD (except under heavy throttle) there is a noticeable pause between 3rd and 4th like it is slipping. The rpm will rise very slightly between the shifts. I don't remember it shifting like this before the rebuild so maybe it's normal.
