alright its official i have been hit with the PMS.
after installing my gauges, and then RUBBERDUCK show me the 5k, and wastegate disable(thank u again Duck), i believe its time for the transmission to get an upgrade.
i hear alot about people putting sonnax/tricimulator in there trannys. what are these and how will they help the life of my transmission.
also i have noticed that most people upgrade to a BTS vb. once again how will this help the life of my transmission, and what does it do.
also there is a superchips chip in the truck, im not sure what the power ratings are on it, plus i already have a 4inch turbo back exhaust.l
within the next couple months i will also be upgrading to a dp tuner.
Spend the extra bucks on the BTS VB as it will work in conjunction with a DP tune, custom is always better, and give you longer tranny life because of the way it shifts.Less clutch slippage and far superior T/C control
over stock. I will be getting the BTS VB myself. Adding supplemental tranny cooling and ATF filtering,in a bypass mode, will also help in tranny longevity. I upgraded to the 6.0L tranny cooler,it's almost 3X bigger, and also have the Trucool 4739. For filtering i have Dieselsites inline tranny filter using Baldwin filters.
Isn't PMS fun....i have spent more money on mods then what i bought my truck for ........just kidding LOL!....but close.
Nut
Got to agree that the BTS VB is the way to go, especially if you're planning on the DP-Tuner upgrade later on. Like Nut said, it the BTS VB will work better with the DP Tuner chip. I had a sonnax/tricum and upgraded to the BTS VB. I noticed a definate difference between the two, with the VB having much cleaner shifts.
Sonnax killed my tranny after I put it in. It was getting soft so I figured the kit would help it last longer, but it had the opposite effect. SPend the cash, get it done right. BTS !
tonight i put the 5k on a toggle cause whenever it was in i could barely feel the shifts, from searching i have read that when it shifts like that then theres a lot of heat makeing the clutch's slip. is this true?

Same here, get the BTS VB! I think they are about $225 with a $150 core charge, well worth the investment.
hey hink what is involved in putting the wicked wheel on the turbo, and how much of a difference does it make.
one more tranny question. what else besides the VB should i do to the transmission
You can instal the WW with the turbo on, that's how I did it. I have heard stories of breaking fins on the exhaust side and other turbo disaster stories doing it that way. If I did it again, I would remove the turbo. I just didn't have the experience or confidence at that time to remove the turbo. It's really not much more work to remove it. The WW is a good mod, makes better sound and helps prevent turbo stall. The Wicked Wheel a.k.a Superior Wheel, is actually the wheel that used to be stock. The design was changed to reduce turbo whistle.
Like Nut said, BTS VB, cooler upgrades, filtration. Add a chip like DP Tuner and shifts get even better and more efficient. All will help the trans and make driving much more enjoyable.

If you have the money a multi disc converter makes a huge difference! All I've done is replaced the T/C, increased the line pressure to the converter a little bit, and the accumulator body (valve body) and the truck runs great and I tow about 8-9k all the time through hills.. I ordered the DP Tuner at the same time as the valve body so Brian set the accumulator body up accordingly..
