Hi All I have a 1994 F-350 4X4 so today I got back from a 3 day camping trip,
and was looking under truck and there it was a spot about the size of a half-dollar at the rear right corner of my oil pan!!!! I have read many thoughts on
this and did not want to jack up the motor (351). The paint on pan looked good
only a pin hole of rust so I took a CHANCE and lightly scraped pan, then wire brushed and no LEAK .So I have now put new paint on pan. Very little
rust came off but I know if I left it I would have to put a oil pan on real soon.
The truck has only 59,000 miles and I am the orginal owner, So THANKS ALL
because with out you I would have missed this!!!!!!!!!!
I just pulled my 351 and tore it down. It had 220,000 miles and needed some attention. I had an oil leak (thinking it was the rear main) until I tore into it and realized the bolt beside the rear main was missing and the one beside it was loose. Like yourself I had a rusty oil pan, but I took it off, sanded it, and she's still solid. So I threw some Por-15 on er, and some blue paint and now she looks good as new... almost haha.
