Hey guys need some input on something. I currently own a 2003 F-250 with the V10 engine. With gas prices still rising would it be a worth while decision to get a 6.0 truck? Payments go up by $100 a month. But is also a brand new 2006 truck. Current truck has 84,000 miles on it. What would you guys do? Thanks

I wouldn't do it just for the price of gas. The extra cost of the diesel would be more than the current cost of gas..
If your current truck has not been a problem I would keep it also.
If you need more hauling power then Yes go for it the diesel will pull anything..
I've been trying to sell my '02 V-10 for months and not a single bite.
The resale is so bad they should quit making them.
You want get crap for your trade in but that's about the only way to get rid of a truck with a V-10
The new 6.0 is an awsome powerhouse with a lot better mpg's if driven normal.
I went ahead and bought an '05 with a 6.0 TD and love it.
sbs.

I think it is the fuel prices that are affecting big engine sales, not the fact it is a V10. Just my HO.
please, no diesel vs gas, its been battled plenty.
for answer to the question, if your interested in saving money and that is the only reason, then keep the truck you have, there is no way you will save more money buy having to pay for a newer truck, even if its a diesel, because you still have the higher payment and fuel still won't be free.
that being said, if you are concerned with mpg and want to keep your truck for like 10 years, or 200k miles, and really not to concerned about paying the extra money for the payment, then go ahead and get the new diesle if you can afford it or want to afford it.
its all in what you can afford, but the savings will never pan out until years from now anyways.
about trade in, there are in some areas very good deals going on now, after rebates and such i got my new 2006 for $33,500. i am only paying a few dollars more a month for it vs my 2004 because my intrest rate is much lower also.
Well if your in the market for a new truck, trade in value aside, you'll never get into one cheaper than right now. Anything that doesn't get 25mpg or better, sales are in the tank. The diesel is the way to go imho. I have a brand new 06 F250 supercab with the 5.4, talk about pityful. It won't even get out of its own way, and I don't have any tools on it yet. However its free along with all the gas it uses. (averages 14-16) I have ridden in a 02 with a V10 and its performance was lets just say less than stellar. There have been many threads with cost factors and everyone of them point the gasser as being cheaper. However that is when gassers had a decent trade in value. Not to mention Ford was not dealing either. The deal I got on my new 05 was better than the x plan I got on my 03. deals have gotten even better since then. If we were to run the same numbers as say 2 years ago, the diesel probably comes out even money with the gasser.

Yep I'd say nows the time to strike while the sales are down.
I agree with mrxlh about right now is the best time to get out of your V10 and go to a Diesel. Your investment value will also jump. I certainly wouldn't think that you are going to save on fuel costs or mileage...I'm not saying you won't, but it won't be much. You should also check with your insurance company on how much more that will go up. If you add 4x4 and a diesel you will see an increase.
There are also the added costs of the maintenance on a diesel that seems to get forgotten about so after the $100 more on the note, $85 every 5K for OCI and probably $300 per year more on insurance...You just need to add them up and make sure you don't come out short at the end of the month and then become Diesel-N-Debt...
If I may.... ...are the new V10's better on gas? Your older V10 is not as efficient. So get a pencil and check operating costs versus buying a new truck. I agree with Ryan, if your looking at buying, the deals are the good right now on a new truck.
Mine is a '03 F250, 6.0L, Lariat, Fx4, with 80k miles, with a Banks Monster exhaust, otherwise bone stock and you cannot beat it with anything but another diesel. The V10 can't hold a candle to the 6.0L IMO. I have been towing a 12k# 5th wheel for 6 mos now and the truck pulls it without a problem. Fuel is about 10mpg towing, 16mpg unloaded. Good luck on your decision!
