Here is a new one. I have an aftermarket voltmeter in my truck, and this is the only reason I have noticed it. The truck runs fine no issues but the volmeter is moving. I plugged in my predator, no trouble codes, but in the data streaming it also shows a volt fluctuation. I plugged in a digital voltmeter into the cigarette lighter and same thing.
This has only been going on the last week or so. I have 3 month old batteries in the truck, good quality interstates. Any guesses?
Fire Rooster - that's exactly what happened when my alternator started to go - that was the only clue I has was my autometer "volt" gauge. I just slapped a new one on and it's been fine since - but... what is this "voltage regulator"... a part of the alternator?? Or is it something seperate that could be bad?

Our voltage regulators are attached to the back of the alternator. They are removable and could be field replaceable, but I do not believe the parts are available seperately from the alternator.
