I've been looking for something to line my behind-the-seat tool tray (on top of the gas tank) so that the jack and tools don't clank around, slide back and forth on corners, etc. I'd thought about Rhino Liner, cork, or the stuff they sell for tool box drawers. (The truck came with sea-foam blue **** carpet in there ) Inspiration struck last night: carpet runner. The ribbed black stuff that is sold by the yard at Home Depot/Lowes.
It turns out the tool tray is exactly twice as wide as the runner width, so two pieces of it side by side completely cover the tray. If you cut it to the right length, the ends snap under the rolled edge on the tray and it is held in without any glue or screws. The ribs seem like they will keep stuff from sliding. I had some runner left over from what I bought to put under my bench seat to cover the Peel'N'Stick, so it was "free" and I was done in ten minutes. It can be removed to clean or replace.
It even kind of looks "factory". Thought I'd pass it on! (Excuse the mess on the tank)
