63 Style Side Tail Gate

63 Style Side Tail Gate
Hello all.
I have a 63 F100 that I just finished putting at 292 in. Took the truck to the body shop yesterday. Going to get minor rust repaired and have the truck painted. Got a good fare estimate and I should get the truck back in a month. He told me it would be good if I could get a tailgate. Mine is to far gone to fix properly. I have looked in Macs, AutoKrafters, MidWest Early Ford, LMC Truck, and Concourse catalogs. None of them list a tailgate for a 63 Styleside bed. Will any of the other tailgates fit ? Is there a source that does have a tailgate for this bed ?
Appreciate the Help Guys

Andy,
I took a look at your gallery to determine which bed you had. Are you keeping the 57-60 style bed? You may have to look for a good used one. But, your truck looks really clean. What exactly is wrong with your old tailgate? If the bodyshop does not want to repair your old tailgate, start asking around for a good metal man and farm that task out.
Adios,
Brett

Andy, if you have the 57-60 style bed you'll need to find a decent used one, although I think I heard somebody was going to repro those soon ?? If it's the 65-66 style you can use a new repro from Dennis Carpenter. They are for the 67-72's but bolt right on. The styling rib at the top is different than a 65-66, but most wouldn't notice. Everything else lines up OK. Good luck, Phil

Hi all.
Yes I have the 57-60 style bed. Was looking into getting the next style bed but after putting new rims on the truck I kinda of like the older bed. Like the round taillights. Looks like a big hotwheel. Tailgate has typical truck damage. A little crushed on one end of the top from a ladder or lumber. Some dents from cargo. Looks like a big filled in patch with bondo near the passneger side hinge. I reenforced the point where the cable bolts to the tailgate by fastening 2 inch wide 1/8 inch thick pieces of steel th the edges of the tailgate and anhoring them to the tailgate with 8 large staineles screws. Before that there was only one bolt the cable was fastened to and they had benn yanked out. Several of the catalogs list a tailgate with part number (B7C-8340700-A)53-72 flareside beds only. Macs lists it as 48 1/2"W x 19 1/2"H. Another catalog lists it as 50 inches wide. The tailgate on the truck now is 52 3/4"W x 20 1/2"H.
Thank you for the offer of the bent tailgate. May I ask how it is bent and what you would want to get for it ?
Thanks for all the help everyone.
