It's a good truck to learn manual on, drives easier than most cars. And the 4.0L is a good engine, IMHO.

For the valance, you're pretty much stuck with the ones Ford offers. I've never really seen any others for it. That being said, if you feel the need to upgrade something, you can get a fog light valance and install fog lights, actually a very simple procedure.

Seeing that you're sixteen, swing by the "Next Generation" forum down in general discussion. All of us down there are under 25, we have some fun stuff to talk 'bout.

Pick up a Mini Truckin magazine at your local news stand. There are ads for many mfgrs. They will be listing later models stuff, but you can get their web sites, or phone numbers and check your model for parts. They still have products for the older trucks, you just have to dig a little.

You're right, your truck needs a little help in the front. jd

thanks for the replies and reccomendations

This is probably one of the funnest vehicles i've driven, probably just because i havnt driven a manual before this one.

might be a dumb question, i havnt had a chance to crack open the manual yet but does anyone know the proper way to engage 4x4? I havnt messed with it yet

truck drives real good, the tires roar a little bit but not too bad.

for the bumper, now i've decided i want to put some sort of brushguard or tube bumper on it with a winch and a couple fogs

I wont be taking the truck in anything too rough, but i'm worried about the valence getting ripped off because it looks like thats what happened with the previous owner

4x4 mode just hit 4x4 button, but best to be going no faster than 30 or 35 to switch modes. For low range, stop truck & have patience. It's worth it. When you get a chance, read the manual. O yeah, don't drive dry pavement in 4wd.

Sometimes you can find aftermarket (ie, made in china or hencho en mehico) valances with fog lights on ebay for attractive prices.
