I have heard and read that it is a must to disconnect the battery then wait 10 seconds before unplugging any sensor or the eec itself.
Why is suggested to do this?
What will happen if you don't follow this rule?
Today I disconnected and a few things including the eec then put everything back together and when I was finished I realized that I did not disconnect the battery.
I think that's mainly so you don't somehow get the crap shocked out of you. Everytime I've replaced a sensor I always unhook the battery so the computer can reset.
As long as you don't have the power turned on to the computer when you disconnect the main computer harness, you should not cause any problems by not unhooking the battery.
