Unhappy Need Tranny Help

Hey everyone. I havent started my Bronco in 2 days, then last time I drove it everything was fine. But today when I got in it to drive it would never shift out of first, I checked the fluid it was a qaurt low I put a quart in it but the same thing wont shift out of first but when I pull it down into second it will bump into it but never will catch drive, any Ideas what would cause this? Its a 78 bronco with C6 and 351m. It leaks a little tranny flluid out of the front, It was sitting for a year before I got it. I have drove it about 200 miles so far and no trouble untill today. IT does not slip at all. Thanks

The shift functions are controlled by the regulator on the side of the tranny. It has a vacuum line running to it. If the line is broken or the regulator has failed the effect would be the symptoms you describe. Make certain the vacuum lie running to it is intact and if that checks out, consider replacing the regulator.

The vacuum line he's referring to happens to be one of the largest, if not THE largest one going to the vacuum tree on the upper intake. So, it should be easy to find and trace to the control.

I found it but it was one of the smaller ones and it was hook into the intake but it was unpluged down on top of the bell housing down toward the bottom of the fire wall
