86 5.0 Interfering valves????
I posted this initially in the 80-86 f100-150 section. My Bad.
Anyway I have an 86 f-150 with only 71K original. Engine under a pretty good load. All of a sudden engine started running bad. Barely made it to the next town. Now won't run at all. Upon initial investigation, cylinders 3,6,7 have little or no compression. Believe the timing chain jumped but don't know for sure. If it did jump, would the pistons have hit the valves? If the pistons did hit the valve, do I just have to get the heads redone or do you think it may have bent the rods or punched a hole in the piston? Any other ideas of what could have happened. Hard to believe that would happen with only 71K on it.

no the valves don't interfer with the pistons on that motor, sounds like it just jumped timing, so when you check the compression the valves are still open alittle on the compression stroke. i bet you could adjust the ignition timing and it would start up but run like ****.
