Stock Turbo & Housing ?

Hello All,

I have finally had time to climb around on my 350, I have only had it for a few weeks. I was looking at the turbo and while it looks old enough to be stock
I am not sure about the housing. The housing is a Garret and has 1.00A/R
stamped on it. Was a 1.00 stock, I thought I had read a .84 was stock?

Thanks- Roady

imagine this is on the truck. is this what you saw? if so, then yes, the compressor side is 1.00A/R. however, the exhaust side that connects to the exhaust pipe is .84A/R. i have a different housing that is 1.15 A/R for the exhaust and a 1.15 ATS compressor housing on backorder.

if you look closely at the inlet of this pic, you can see the 1.15 cast in the side of the new housing, that looks alot different from the one you have.

EDIT- found a pic of my stock housing. this faces inward towards the compressor side, so it will be really hard to read. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...t/DSCF2919.jpg

Thumbs up

Hello Strokin_it,

That is what I have on my truck, thanks for the images! I am no turbo guru but I would guess that he 1.15 exhaust/intake should bump up the boost a fair amount, and probably lower the EGT a good amount also.

By the way I loved the article you posted on the F350s in Iraq. My daughter is
over there right now, her deployment was extended for another 4 months.

Thanks again

The 1.15 housing will actually lower the boost, not raise it. It decreases the drive pressure on the turbo. But, you'll be making more power because the turbo is more efficient, as the engine is not having to work as hard to push the exhaust gasses out through the turbo. But, you're right that the bigger housing will lower EGTs.

I've got the same housing on my turbo. Stock turbo setup, wastegate held shut, I could hit 34 psi - very hard on the turbo. No changes to programming, just the exhaust housing on the turbo and my peak boost dropped to 27psi. But, the truck is making more power.

Edit: didn't see you're new. Welcome!! Stick around here, do some reading, and you'll learn more about your PSD than you though you ever would.
