drive shaft problem

hi guys i have a 1992 f 250 with a 7.3idi in it 15 inches of lift 38s and whatever else i keep blowing the chains in the borg warner 1356 transfercases so i bought a np205 from a 79 f 150 to swap to my truck but because i dont have a slip yoke on the np205 what should i do for a driveshaft to the back axle because it needs to be able to slid to compensate for axle movement.

install a two piece drive shaft, with a carrier barring. Go to a local bone yard, and look under any longbed pickup and you should find one. You will more then likely need to cut and install the yokes that will fit your truck and may need to shorten the overall length. This is one way to solve your problem, because the two pieces are splined at the carrier, so you will get your movement. I would also keep the shaft from the transfer case to the carrier as short as possible, to prevent over angling the shaft from the carrier to the rearend. You can also install a CV joint in place of a U-Joint behind the carrier. Hope this helps.

I would just meausre the center-to-center distance from the t-case u-joint to the axle u-joint and have a driveline shop make a new shaft to fit your application.
