I have a 1986 F-250 with a 6.9L engine. I was taking the injectors out today and noticed they seemed different removing them than the instructions I have read on the forum. I have heard about o-rings that snap into place and things like that. I simply turned the big nut on the injector and they all slid out easily with no o-rings. am i missing something?? did I do something wrong?? could someone reference me a picture i could look at in order to tell what they are supposed to look like??? i am really confused right now. thanks in advance
First you remove the fuel line with a 5/8" wrench, top nut.
Then you slide the return tee off the injector.
The O rings are in two grooves in the injector that were under the return tee.
Then you get the big nut on the injector and screw it out.
When it lifts out of the head, look for a copper washer that may be stuck to the injector, or it may be still down in the head. This is the copper crush washer the injector seals against. New ones must be used when installing the injectors, so make sure you get the old ones out.
