fuel tank selector valve

does anyone know where to get a fuel tank selector valve for an 86 model f-250. my truck has two tanks on it and the valve under the truck that you use to switch between the two tanks has gone out on me and i have no clue where to get one besides the Ford house. They want $180 for that thing. I would rather find a used one or something if I could. thanks guys

You can plug into one from an 87 as well, just that it doesn't fill in the whole plug, but all the spades line up. Otherwise, Ebay is a source on occasion, I got a brand new switch for an 87 for $25, which I have already broken... working on a way to fix it, broke off one of the inlets...

yeah I have been trying ebay, but they are not just what i need though. their connectors do not match up at all. the ones on ebay have round connectors while the connector i have has flat spades

Yep, sounds like the 85-6 units. The 87 has flat spades as well, just a little different shape socket, but the 86 plug will work in it. Not sure if the 88-9 are the same or not...

If you want to use a 88-95 selector valve you only need to match up the wires by function....... colors are different. Think wreckers and get the plug and FSV........
