I have an '04 XLT Ranger and when I adjust the air to blow at both the head and feet it feels like the A/C is running, but when it's blowing at just the head or just the feet, it feels normal. Is there a quick fix for this? Or should I just take it in to get fixed?
You don't need to take it anywhere or do any troubleshooting since there is nothing broken. The A/C compressor runs in all positions other than off, vent, and heater. Since you had it in bilevel per the description in your post, there is no problem with it and it's operating exactly as designed (compressor on).

If that's true, then why doesn't the A/C seem to be running when it's only blowing on my head or feet? And my dad's 04 Ranger doesn't seem to be running the A/C in the bilevel position either. I'm not trying to be mean or accusatory, I just don't know and am curious.

Trust me (not only because I own an 04), the compressor does not run when in the positions noted in my earlier post. The compressor does not run in vent, heater, or off. Just the way Ford set it up to be. If you look in the Ford Factory Service Manual for the 04 Ranger (I happen to have one), you will see in the schematics that what I have said is correct. Unless Ford is misleading their techs, which I really doubt.
*Maybe dads 04 doesn't *feel* like the compressor is on because he adjusted the temp setting to mask compressor operation.
