i just purchased a 66 f 100 with a 6 cyl and c4 out of a maverick and i would like to put in a "78" 351m/400 and a c6 out of a school bus and i was wondering if this would be an easy swap or not. I also have a "78" donor to take the I beams, power steering, and disc brakes from. If anyone could give me any advice on which way to go i would grreatly appreciate it.
Hmmm! Yup! You can do that. Post back and let us know how it comes out. Personally, if the 6 cyl engine and C4 transmission that are in the truck now are working, I'd start with the disk brake conversion. You must have a nice big parking lot!

You'll need the mounting towers from the donor truck as well, so don't cut them up.
I'd switch the brakes and steering first. You may have little bitty brakes on that front end. After you put that 351 in, you'll have a heavier truck, and I'd hate to see you try to make make your truck do the Vulcan mind weld with a red light or a tree or something.
Besides, even though there's lots of room under the hood, it's MUCH easier to do the P/S and P/B switch with the engine out of the truck!
