Do transmissions "clunk?"
Last time I drove it was about a month ago, about 600 miles, and it did fine.
This morning when I started it, it was fine until I started moving. Then I heard a clunk sound proportional to speed, ie, slow clunk initially then faster as I got moving and then slowed again. Back at idle there was no sound.
Could this be a transmission thing?
I am not sure how they work, but it seems that a bunch of the transmission internals are spinning even at idle so I'm hoping its not. Then again, if its not, I have no idea what it would be.
I checked the fluid and it was low, topped it off and saw no immediate change.
Parked it and went to work so won't be able to assess any suggestions until this evening.
The clunk seemed to be in the middle to passenger side of the car. The clunk frequency seems tied to tire rotation, same frequency of occurance as if there was a pebble in the tire or something.
TIA,
Sam
