What is the biggest cam or the cam i can get the most power out of before i lose vaccum pressure and end up with no brakes. Its for a 460 and its for offraod use, mog bogs.
I run a Comp Cams 292 series -w- guide plates and BB Chebby roller rockers with my blower setup but that's probably more than you want for bogging. Your going to have very low vacuum at idle with that cam. Not a problem for me. I don't have power brakes. Maybe some of the other guys with modern niceties like power stuff will chime in with what cam they're running.
Which heads, how much head work, what carb, what intake, what headers, what gears and tires, vehicle weight, auto or manual, if auto which converter....
Need more info before a good recommendation can be made.
Well im in the process of getting all my stuff be im trying to figure out what i want. First my truck has head work done (either ported or vavle train, but not rocker arms) I have a edlebrock 750 cfm carb, im trying to figure out what cam, rocker arms, intake manifold, and headers. Aslo im getting all msd ignition, coil, rev control, and distrubtor (sp?).
So if you could reccoomed a good setup that would be great. Aslo Im running a 9 in rear 35 spline detroit locker, dana 60 front 35 spline, detroit locker, 12 inches of lift on 44 inch boggers on a 1972 ford f100. I hope this is enough info, let me know though if you need more! Aslo for the vacum promble im going to run hydrlic brakes, so what is the biggest cam that will fit in a 1987 460?
A cam with 220 duration @ .050 or less. Lift over .530 intake and .560 exhaust is not value added as stock or well ported factory non FI heads air flow peaks out at these lifts. Only roller cams feature these specks with out going to 1.8 roller rockers.
