Boost Gauge Question

I just purchased a boost gauge and I'm wondering what is the best way to connect the nylon tubing to the "y" on the intake? I noticed that there was no adaptor in the kit. What is the best way to do this? Is there anything I should look out for when installing this item?

depending on what company you got em from you should have at least the 3 top pieces and need to buy the rest. its sold at home depot. i think i just needed the t and the two hose barbs. take your exisitng pieces with you to size em up. the whole thing goes on the rubber hose off the y pipe to map sensor. i installed mine about half way up.

another option if you didnt receive those pieces is to go this route. i used this method up until i got my stage 1's and my boost never was above 25 psi. once i had the ones it would blow off.

ill let you figure option 2 out.

Sweet. I have the hardware for option 2. Thanks for the help. Does it matter where I splice into the line with the T or does anywhere on the hose work? Also, what is normal psi during operating conditions?

well not sure what normal is for you?

all depends on your truck.
5 speed it will be easier to get higher #'s.

also what mods you got.

if completely stock i wouldnt expect anything over about 15 really getting on it up a hill.

if you got an intake, downpipe and chip probably mid 20's. i could reach 26 when i had this set up. but that was taking it to the rev limiter in 3rd gear. and it took forever to climb. now i can just tap the pedal and it goes up to 30+ no problem.

expect 4-7 cruising down the highway. 10+ climbing a hill.4

I also have the stage ones. When towing the 5er on cruise and I hit a hill my check engine light will come on and go off after a minute and a buzzer will go off until I kick it off of cruise. My question is, is there something out there to fool the computer into thinking that its not over boosting and not set light and buzzer off? Also I heard that these engines with stock bolts can handle up to 40 psi. Is this true?

I cant say that I've done it myself, or even seen it in person, but some members here have plumbed a pressure regulator in to the MAP sensor line. The MAP sensor won't see more pressure than what the reg. is set to. It prevents defueling under boost, but it also defeats a strategy designed to protect your engine. I would not consider it without some type of relief valve or wastegate to prevent too much boost. I also don't have the credentials of some of those who have done this mod.

you should see what code you got. if its a low icp or high boost. it could be either.

yes our head bolts can handle that much before the head gasket goes pop.
