Air vaccum solnode

This solnode (sorry bout the mispelling) goes to an 302 EFI engine, and is near the battery compartment, there is actually 2 of them there and one goes to a vaccum barrel cannister and the other solnode goes to the EGR port. They both have a connector attached to the top portons of the solonodes, one has a white connector, and the other has a black connector, These two solnodes were dirty and under the bottom is a rubber hose that connects to both of them there, and then there is two small ports that go to the EGR and Vaccum Cannister. There is a small square cap on top (Black) that has clips on each end that is removeable. Under the cap is a small rubber filter that is designed to vaccum are from there to go through the ports. There is also a hole in one that expels air. If these get clogged up with dirt, ant nests or dirt daubers, you'll find that the engine will suffer for it. as the solodoles will not be able to intake or expell excess air to the EGR, and and the Vaccum canister. I took a small ice pick and pryd the cap off and it had dirt blocking the inlet, cleanned it out,and now I have a smooth running engine where as before it was acting like it was missing or try to die out low rpms. I took some pictures of it and will post them as soon as I can get my camera back (wife borrowed it) and you'll understand better about what I am talking about. ITs one of those little things that shouldv'e been mentioned someplace before.
