460 questions

Well I have the 460 and a few questions. It is currently in a 1976 ford f-350. There is 78,000 miles on it. How many miles can I expect out of it? The guy who sold it to us said it had a holly 650 4 barrel. I can not find a holley 650, it it just rare or did he lie? Will this engine bolt into a Torino? What other cars can i put this in? Are there any downsides of this engine? In your opinion what performance parts will make the best power?

The some 460's came with a 600 Holley from the factory. There are 650 holleys (usually spread bores and that would be a replacement carb and probably have mechanical secondaries, a big no-no) but none ever came on a 460. My '84 460 has 135,000 miles and still has excellent compression and runs great. Depends on the Torino, not in the '69 and older. Yes, in the '70 and later. Down side it is heavy and does not mpg very well. Headers first with a big exhaust (2 1/4" duals or bigger). Recurve dist. and then port heads (or replace them). Then comes a cam and valve train changes. But if this is a street truck and daily driven, why? It will just guzzle gas even worse than stock.
