A complete custom job here - I have used conveyor belting. It is as tough as it gets. You may need to make brackets, etc. A piece of 1 1/2"x 1 1/2" angle will mount to the frame behind the rear axle with the flaps attached to that. Small angles/corner brackets from the local hardware store can be used for the front. Something alse that works - and mud and snow won't stick/build up on it is the clear 1/8" vinyl or nylon of sorts that gets used as rain covers/windshields for lift trucks.

What you should do is get a set of factory ones! The mud flaps will be the same back to at least 2001, and most of the people who i know with rangers always take the flaps off anyway. You should be able to find some on ebay, etc. You should get 2 brackets, 2 flaps and a few screws. You could also get them from a ford dealer, i know that Discount Ford Parts is a supporter here, i would talk to them!

I bought the factory mud flaps for my 06. All four cost $35.00 and I had to buy new rear brackets to mount them on for $20.00. I'm not sure about the 05's but on my 06 I had to remove the black plastic stone gaurds from the front and rear before I could mout the mud flaps. They are held on with tape and they came off easily.

I use the little universal ones from O'Reilly's or autozone or the like. Had no problems mounting and they haven't so much as moved an inch as of yet. Look decent too. And most importantly, they work.

I went with factory mud flaps because they fit perfect and all the holes are already there. I dont think that $55.00 for four mud flaps and the brackets was a bad price. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Dang!!! I had factory flaps on the back of my 04 and they broke off when I got them too caked up with clay mud. I went to the local dealership and they wanted $75 for new rear flaps and brackets cuz I broke a bracket too. I didn't buy them cuz I wasn't getting ripped that hard and with my fender flares the flaps wont fit the front(or so they say). Now I have no flaps and I dont like it cuz it slings too much crap on my truck. Gonna have to fix this now that this post has reminded me.

you should be able to bolt factory flaps on the front casey without any brackets...back is a different story....brackets suck.

I'm not sure but I dont think they are the same. My factory rear flaps were rectangle shaped and the front ones should have a longer part that goes higher for the outside edges like most that you see in the parts stores but I'm just guessing since I have never seen them. The rear ones from the factory have metal brakets made from rod stock on each side with a flat piece of bar stock tack welded on so that the 2 little bolts that hold the flap can screw threw them. I broke one flap and the other is okay but the bar stock broke off the rod bracket.
