Turbo Noise While Towing
I have a new to me 2002 F250 4x4 crew sb with the 7.3. Today I towed a boat and trailer package thata weight approximatley 6000 lbs. At around 70 MPH I could hear a rythmic whistling sound above and beyond the normal turbo whistle. The sound would start and stop every six to seven seconds. This is my first diesel. Does this sound like a normal turbo sound? Is it an issue to be investigated? Is it standard procedure?
I did not experience any lack of performance. The truck pulled like an ox. Thanks.

I've experienced the same condition while towing my 31' travel trailer with my '05 F350 4wd Super Duty Powerstroke with automatic transmission. The sound was so loud I actually pulled over on I-10 to investigate the problem. Would appreciate any feedback concerning the problem. It was unnerving to say the least!
P.S. It's only happened once, but that was enough. I called the dealer and as usual, they're useless.
