I am wondering if I can put a set of mirrors off of an 80's model truck onto my 1976 f150 I am wanting a pair of the silver ones that mount from the window down with the C kinda shaped bracket. right now I have little tiny what looks like car mirrors on it. any opinions
I assume he is talking about the low mount swing "lok" mirrors.
The 80's pickup and 70's and 80's van mirrors have a longer mounting bracket than the 73-79 swing "lok" have.
You can use the "80's version" on the 70's pickups, and I had a set on my 1973 but with the top mount mounted in the correct place where the old mirror attached. the lower mount will mount inside the bodyline "dimple" and this may be a problem if you have a truck with chrome trim.
Just thought I'd mention this.
My 1973 had a big rubber plug beneath the car mirror, presumably the hole was for linkage for an optional "remote type" mirror, that had a mirror head control inside the cab.
I had to mount the mirror upper bracket to where it covered the hole. Then the lower bracket went inside the dimple. etc...
I wonderd about the lower mount hitting in the chrome body strip
thanks guys if anyone has a good set of mirrors they want to get rid of let me know.

I just sold a set on Ebay for $50. I wish I would had known you wanted them. I want a set like you have....the little ones. Just to be different....
I still have one of the big ones left. Drivers side. Might not be too hard to find another one for the pass side.
You can carefully bend them to stretch over and mount below the trim and bolt below it under the style line. They bend fairly easy. Just have to be careful to get them both the same. They will mount level like that also, instead of arched up as I see some do.
