OK what am I missing, my wipers only work on fast speed and they move like a snail, no low or intermitten speed it has a new wiper switch and a new wiper motor all fuses have been checked and all grounds checked and cleaned. The manual does not show any other possible areas to look (plus the manual is not very good). Anyone else have this problem with their truck/bronco? And buy the way it is an 1986
You say the motor is new? Hmmm, the symptoms are indicative of a poor ground or a bad armature in the motor. However since you have addressed both of these issues I suppose you could be dealing with wiring issues from the governor/control module to the switch. The difficulty is that I can't give you accurate info as to WHERE to locate the governor. Its buried in the dashboard somewhere but I'm not sure where. There is one thing you can check to begin with. With the switch set on HIGH, you should be getting battery voltage (12VDC approx.) across the DARK BLUE/ORANGE wire and ground. If not, the problem lies in the wiring between the motor and the switch.
I would venture a guess that the governor has gone south since the intermittent setting uses the LOW drive speed to run the wipers during the intermittent cycle.
Just a little FYI, the circuit breaker for the wiper circuit is integral to the switch assembly in the 84-86 models.
