Hey there. I just installed a new Westin Bull Bar on my 2005 Screw. Next step...fog lamps. I haven't really decided on which ones to get just yet, but one of my concerns is I would like to try to avoid drilling a hole in which to install the rocker switch that comes with most fog lamp sets.
Was wondering, is there any where I can get one of the push buttons that Ford uses on the center consol (e.g. like the kind they use for the A/C), hook the lights up to this and replace one of the "blanks" with it.
If not, was wondering what others may have done to avoid drilling into that nice dash
Thanks
TS

Have you thought of using a relay to help turn'em on? Like perhaps using a signal from the parking lamps?
You know its too bad Ford didn't include some sort of Upfitter Switch Panel on our 150s like they do in the SDs. Maybe not the entire four (4) switches but maybe a set of 2 or so...
Edit: What about making a "blank" to fit in the Coin Holder, then mounting the switch there (I'm assuming your not using the coin holder)...

See if you can get the Fog Lamp switch that ford uses on its trucks w/Factory Fog lamps. The switch is integrated into the Headlight switch assembly itself. Just have to pull the **** to operate it. Just make sure you use a relay. I have seen switched for as low as 52$US...worth the money for a clean looking install IMO

It might be a bit of a reach, but where the cigarette lighter plug is located would be a good place to put a switch. You should be able to easily replace that panel in the event that you need to.

I've decided to go this route. Thanks for the idea. I've read up on this on a few othher forums and they all mention attaching a relay. Why do you need to install a relay?

Well there are a number of different reasons for a relay. I do not know what the FOrd Switch Is rated at but lets just say it has a rating of 16VDC @10 amps. That would be good. Probably good enough to power the Fog lights themselves. However for $5 you can get a relay that can handle 16VDC @ 30amps. I myself would rather send the 1/2 AMp through the $56 dollar switch to control the relay that controls the lights then end up sending the whole amount of the current of the lights through the $56 dollar switch and risk it failing.
In other words it will more then likely prolong the life of the switch contacts indefinitely and provide you with a cheap means of contact replacement. The relay just provides more current carrying capability then the switch at an economical replacement value.
