I've got a 2003 FX4 which the tranny squeeks when going into the next gear up. It is an automatic with the 5.4. Only happens when I get on the gas pretty good. Shift points about 3500-4000 RPM's. Are there belts inside the tranny?? Cause that is exactly what the squeeking sounds like..belts slipping. Any fix or info would be appreciated.
I'd suspect mounts before anything internal to the transmission.
There are no belts in the transmission. There are clutch plates and bands that are made of friction materials. It is a possibility that one or more of these are making your noise.
How old is your current fluid? If over 15K miles, a fresh load of mercon V might be in order.
Are you sure the noise is coming from the transmission?
Quite often the serpentine belt on the front of the engine will give a little squeek when the transmission shifts at higher rpm.
