fuel supply pump?

If anyone has followed, i test drove a truck this past weekend. ran great but i didn't think work truck met piece of crap cosmetically. oh well...i found another one but it has a bit of a problem. I am a little skeptical as to what it may be. The guy selling it described it to me as: When he started it he would have to hold the ignition and let the engine turn over a few times and then give it a rest. Then he would repeat it until it started. He described it almost as priming it like the fuel wasn't reaching the injector pump and making it to the injectors. This has me kindof puzzled. Would it be something like a leak, the IP (i hope not) or could it be the Supply pump, the check valves or maybe return tees? let me know what you think...if you need some more info to diagnose i can try and find out!

thanks!

btw it runs fine when it gets started so maybe glowplugs? lol-just a few possibilities

Check valve on the fuel filter can cause that kind of thing, but an air intrusion on the return lines can as well. If there is a rubber line from the filter mount to the injector return lines, likely it has failed, and the fix is to just plug it, or capp the lines, whichever you prefer.
