Ok guys I couldnt find my older post with my other wiring problems but heres a new one. I have a 66 F-100 Camper Special, Custom Cab and I bought a painless wiring harness and I am installing it slowly because i know nothing about wiring. I've got a two questions right now on my truck do i have an balast resister? Now this wiring harness has the option of using a balast resister. What does a balast resister do and what are the benifits or drawbacks of having one? If you guys have any other helpfull hints that would be great to?
I had a simalar question when wiring my 65 ford stepside with the new painless wiring harness. I am told by some I do not need a balast resistor if I am not running points. I know you can purchase one at O'Reilly Auto parts store and they usually come with a msd blaster coil. I think it shows how to wire it in the instructions i bought the univeral harness. And had a lot of questions about the light switch and the were able to answer most of my questions with the help line. Like you I don't know much about wiring but this is just what some of the old farts tell me. (pre electronic ignition guys).
