Tranny fluid?

I just recieved my valve body from bts today. I tho9ught it would be a good time to change the tranny fluid since it's probally not been done, at 63000 miles. All the local auto stores only carry thier own brand of cheap atf. I read in the article section i will need about 20 quarts. Where can i find some good stuff locally, i was thinking synthetic. Or do i have to order it online somewhere. What brand and type of atf should i get. Thanks for your help

i use Amsoil Torque drive and love it. 20qt=5 gallons, and i bought two 2.5 gal jugs of the stuff from a friend over the net who was an amsoil dealer. it was around $180 i think, and it's good stuff.

when you change fluid, you need to flush it all out with new. it holds ~19 qts, and if you just drain the pan and refill, you are only really draining about 6.

go to this link to see how to do it:

The way I did it was to drain TC and drop the pan. Then disconnect the lines and blow them

An '03 won't have a TC drain plug, you will have to flush. The procedure in the link posted by Strokin works well.

The article says if trans made after August '01. I checked out his signature and saw it was an '03.

OK, I didn't read the article carefully. I didn't see your sig. Must be because I am a free member. Should look into changing that.

I am just glad you didn't have my TC. If you did, that means you have had to have a rebuild. That cost me about $4300 for the trans and 250 for the install

Toyota Hauler...I am in appleton, close to green bay. How do you do the membership? I will be going to new york city at the end of the month but would like to get my tranny done by then. I am interested in the rest of the fluids though. Can anyone become a member, does it cost money? Thanks
