My Dad's check engine light came on this morning so I checked the ECU and pulled the two codes that are in the title above with the Predator. I was wanting to know if somebody could decode them for me. My dad didn't notice anything out of the ordinary other then it felt a little sluggish getting on the expressway. The check engine light was on the first two starts today. When we picked it up from the tire shop, the light was out.
2263 is turbo performace code, 2285 is icp low. if the truck runs fine, i would not worry because they may be trash codes from tuner. if you develop an issue then go to your local dealer
with some of these tuners, all they care about is more power. sometimes they alter strategy when the computer is running a test on a sensor, or system. if the computer doesnt like what it sees then it throws a code. it is not a problem but is just not working according to fords specs.
Ok...The "check engine" light is on again tonight for the first time since I reset the computer last week. I got to thinking about what you said that it could be trash codes. I thought about that and figured if that were the case then I would have been having this problem a week or two after I installed the predator tune which has now been about 6 months. The first time the "Check Engine" light came on was about 3 weeks ago and after I reset the computer last week, it didn't come back again until tonight. So if these codes are true then how do I go about testing each to find the source?
Matt
First thing.......return your tune to stock--clear all the codes and drive it again to see if the codes return. Also, does it seem to have any other performance issues---poor fuel mileage, excess smoke--black or white?
I uninstalled the Predator to see if the check engine light would come back on with it stock a week ago. It came back on today and has stayed on. I pulled the codes and here they are.
The Truck is a 2003 King Ranch 6.0 Crewcab dually with an 8 foot bed. The only physical mods done to it is a 4" Stainless Exhaust from turbo back with deletion of catylist and a highflow muffler. He also has a 3 guage pillar mounted to monitor his boost, trans temp, and exhaust temp.
It now has a tad over 30,000 miles on it.
Do NOT re-install the Preditor and get an appt with your dealer and get it in. Sounds like classic beginning to turbo failure. Don't forget you have NEVER run a tuner on that truck!
He's already set up an appointment with the doctor This week. I do not plan to reinstall until this situation is resolved hopefully. It has been in the shop in the past to have engine repairs done and I had made sure to remove the predator before hand. I wonder if the dealer is watching this. Do you think they could hold it against the owner if a tech at the dealer read about the owner of the truck on the site and found out that was the same owner that is taking their vehicle to the dealer?
As he is driving on the highway he says that he can here the truck get quite and then get loud again as the turbo cuts in and out quickly and as he sits idle the turbo will cut out all together. He says that he also hears a beep sound under the hood when he lets of the throttle to slow down and also after he turns the truck off.
