I bought a painless wiring kit and I am installing it and I have another question where my oil pressure sending unit is there is a post and i have a wire for that but down a little bit on the oil pressure sending unit there is another post where a wire used to be connected. What is that post for? Do i need to connect something here or not? I have a digital picture of it but i dont know how to put it on here. Thanks alot!! Brannon By the way I have a 66 Ford Custom Cab, Camper Special
To post a pic, start up and open up your Gallery, and put it there. We can help you once we know exactly what you are referring to! Don't forget to tell us when you put it in.
They are just tee'd together.
Sometimes you will see this and the vehicle has both a factory gauge & a mechanical gauge.
These appear to both be Factory S/Units
So what do i do with them? How do i attach them i know i have a oil gauge and an oil light. I think my wiring harness is only set up for the oil gauge so... how do i make it so i can use the light 2? Thanks for all of the help Dennis!! Brannon
Brannon: Follow these steps:
1. Turn the key to Run, but do not start the engine.
2. Take one of the leads, and ground it.
3. When you see the oil light come on, you have found the oil light lead.
4. When you see the oil pressure gauge go racing up when the engine isn't running, you have found the gauge wire.
5. Connect 'em up!
I understand what you are saying but.... I took out all of the old wiring and am putting in a new painless wiring harness so I only have one wire for the oil pressure sending unit. Your post still helps because i can find out what one is the gauge and what one is the light. Thanks for the help.
I went and looked at mine(same pkg. combo, 352) Mine goes like this...there are 2, BOTH white with red tracers, difference is the tracer look, the one that goes to the large can is a diagonal tracer with the 90 degree boot at the end, the other is a female blade that slides over the other units contact. Its tracer runs parallel with the wire and has the funky insulation as it runs up in front of the head and ties into the harness in the coil area.
