transmission problems...
Ok i noticed about a week after i bought my psd, the transmission delayed about a second or two for the transmission to engage in reverse only. Today i got in a rush for a errand and i didnt run the truck all day and i started the truck up then put it in reverse and i let the truck roll back but the transmission never engaged and then i put the truck in drive and it didnt engage for about 2 seconds then it engaged. I typically warm up the truck but today i just rushed to leave. I live in northern california so it wasnt cold at all.Any quick diagnosis would be greatly appreciated. quick stats-02 f250 4x4 auto 41k miles.thanks

I've yet to hear of one going south at only 41k, but i suppose it's possible. Do you do a lot of mountain towing? I presume you went to the dipstick right off of the bat.

Do the easy stuff first. Check the oil level (hot) like maradeck says, then change the oil & filter in the tranny. Still no help?, take it to a tranny shop, have it scanned. Most shops will do this for free (they want your business).

Yeah i checked the tranny fluid and it is a little darker than the typical dark reddish fresh tranny fluid and i was contemplating changing the filter but after that incident, i definetely will be doing the tranny fluid change. I dont do any mountain towing just the ocassional jetski-boat towing but that about does it weight wise. Thanks for the advise guys!!
