Something sounds funny

Well i disconnected the egr on my 06 psd fx4 and i was driving around getting on it a little and there was like a sucking kinda clicking sound im not sure what the heck it is, it sounded like it was coming from where the intake was????I connected it back on and the sound went away. What could this sound be, is it normal when disconecting egr?

Did you disconnect it with the engine off?

No, it's immediate I believe. Hopefully someone will come along with an answer.

It is immediate. When you disconnect the EGR (with the truck off) it will remain closed. However, from what I am told, with the new EGR strategy of the 05-06's there really is no need to disconnect it. I don't think you will see any benefit as you are driving an 06.

The new strategy / design significantly limits the "open time" operation of the EGR Valve for '06. As I have previously stated, I would not disable it until it gave me a reason to. Just my opinion though.

Learning as we go here... What would be the reason or purpose of Disconecting the EGR from the truck.. what would it do to "help" the truck???

Read all you would ever want to know about disabling the EGR Valve in the 6.0 Tech Folder. Follow the link below.

As I have mentioned though, I would not disable it on an '06 6.0 due to the strategy changes on your MY.
