Unhappy Glow Plug Removal

I was removing the #8 glow plug and it broke off leaving the rod in the block. It did not fall into the cylinder it's just stuck. Does anyone have any experience getting them out?

my best guess is that if nothing but the glow-plug bore is holding it in, then compression would push it out. turn the crank over by hand, and when that cylinder comes up on compression, the plug SHOULD shoot out, and if it does, it will have about 450psi of pressure behind it. make sure you put a piece of thick cardboard or something over the area so it doesnt hit anything on it's discharge.
