i'm planning on putting a d60 under my 78 f250 from an 89 f250. i need to swap the gears from 3.54 to 4.10 i plan on buying the gears off ebay and i need to know what to look for. i don't know the difference between standard or reverse rotation so could someone please explain
basically the reverse gears are for the high pinion diffs, they don't actually go into a reverse rotation just cut in the reverse angle so the drive and coast sides are in the right position for the pinion coming in from a different angle, Reverse rotation has just been adopted as the standard way of saying it.
As to which one you need look at the diff and notice where the pinion goes into the case, if it's below the centerline of the axles then standard rotation, if it's higher than teh centerline of the axles then reverse rotation.
Hope thats clear, and helps
Oh BTW that only counts on front axles if your talking about a rear diff, then they are all standard rotation.
