I just put a fuel cell in my '72 and now the gas gauge isnt working. I re-did the connections with the wiring and put a test light to it and when the key is on accessory the light blinks and when the truck's running the light flickers real fast and spastic..anybody know whats goin on? I got some of the rust off of the screw and washers that the power wire runs to but nothing changes..i know its got enough gas to register, too.
Did your fuel cell come with a gm sending unit or did you order it with a ford
sending unit, is the cell used and maybe already had the wrong sending unit, even
a new fuel cell could get shipped with the wrong sending unit? Maybe some
history on the fuel cell would be helpful?

P.S. one more ? did you adapt your old sending unit ? Also like dave said check your grounds.

I don't think the fuel cell's sending unit will work with the stock gas gauge - it didn't in my '68. Get out an ohm meter and see what the gauge puts out for resistance when empty and when full.
i finally got it to work...we had to take the sending unit out of the stock gas tank and put it in the cell but it works...the float wire was corroded to the switch under the cap.
