As some of you may know im active duty U.S. Navy. I was reading a thread that talked about how turbo's were having problems if they sat for to long. Well right now im on shore duty so its not a problem. But, In a few years when I go back to Sea Duty my truck will sitting untouched at times from 2 weeks to over 6 months.. Now to add to all this. My 3/36 runs out about the time i get back to sea duty.. so is there anything i can do to try and prevent problems with my turbo or am i just $#$#$% !!!!!!
The turbo is covered under the diesel engine warranty. Hopefully it fails before it's up, and you can get the updated turbo that is machined different so that it's not so prone to storage rot.
your profile lists an 06 truck. if this is correct, you should be ok because they started putting these redesigned turbos on in late 05. just sneek it onto the ship and them just do some awesome burnouts on the deck!

CanadaGuy... is there any way to tell if i have the "new" turbo thats being talked about in here??? hopefully i do... the last thing i want to deal with is having the truck towed to the dealership after a 6 month cruise.
anyway hopefully ill be ok... if anyone knows how to tell the difference between the 2 please let me know.. thanks for the help.
I think I have a message at work about the engine build split date... I'll check tomorrow.
C.G. Thanks a bunch. would you mind emailing that to me. I work shift work and will be off work the next couple of days... ill have time to check.. thanks..
I hope I don't come across like too much of a liar, but I can't find the info, and message has been superseded by a newer one that doesn't have the date info... but I'll keep my eyes open.
