I ordered a pair of cryoed/slotted rotors and hawk pads from DPPI yesterday cause i`m so fed up with my teeth shaking at every stop. Having the slots cryoed was only about fifteen bucks each so i went for it. It takes around three weeks extra to get this done but I will try to grease my caliper slide pins to get me by till then. I looked at the inside surface of my front rotors and the pad is barely scraping the rust off it.This is a sure sign of sticky pins and probably contributed to my flapping rotors.
My question to anyone that may know as my 99A model should have the smaller rotors and the measurement Josh at DPPI found in ordering these is 3.73 inch as opposed to 99B and up are 3.92 inch. He didn`t know how that was measured. I thought it may be the surface profile measurement where the pad contacts but when I put the ruler to it that can`t be so, it`s only around 2 inch or so on the face. So I`m stumped at how this is designated. Anyone know? I just want to verify what I have because there are some transition parts my truck was equipt with that are supposed to only be on the later builds. Build date was 11/98
i cant really help you with the measurement, but im guessing from center of rotor to edge of braking surface?
you will love the frozen powerslots. we put some on the dually the other week and they are impressive. im doing them on mine when i get wheels. i got the rotors (and hawk pads, need them too) from TireRack, and didnt need to wait. dont be surprised, the rotors are WHITE from the residue from cryogenic treating.
i paid $144 per rotor (actually dad did, it's the businesses' truck.) then $70 per axle for pads, and the rear Brembo rotors were $72 a piece. so it was around $630 when we were done. you didnt get bent over if that deal included Hawk Pads, but you just have to stay bent in whatever position you are in now for three weeks until you get those rotors. i had to wait 3 days from clicking "order" to the time Mr. Brown set them on the porch.
When i ordered my powerslots,it took 3 to 4 weeks before i got them.Cause i had mine cryoed mine as well.I also ordered the hawk pad, there great. You didnt get bent over on the price,i paid 456.00 (i think) for the rotors, front pads and rear pads.Stayed with the stock rear rotors.
Cant help ya on the other questions.Im not much help to begin with, but i do try.
Edit:for the slide pins,i use a wire brush on a drill.Get all the grease out frist, with a degreaser.

I guess they send them to Cal to have it done and then back, thus the wait. They started stocking the cryos but said it got to be too many apps. or not worth it or something, oh well I can live with it. I think I paid 139.23 each rotor.I`m glad I went with DppI cause I know if something goes wrong like they send the wrong part they will take care of me
