ok so i should have my truck workign by saturday or sunday and i am wondering about lube, im going to do an oil change the previouse owner didnt seem to take very good care of the truck. i know there is dello 400 are there any better? what is recomended? and what weight oil? also fuel aditives i know the new ulsd has a lot less lube to it so what is a good additive? and what woudl be good to run threw the fuel tank to help clean anything out?
Delo 400 is a good oil, Walmart carries Rotella. Any name brand "DIESEL" rated oil will do fine. 15-40 is a good summer weight (or year round in the souhtern U.S.) and 10-40 for winter. Check the prices and availablity of the oils in your area and choose any name brand that is readily available.
Fuel additives: Diesel Kleen (gray bottle for summer, white has a de-icer) carried by Walmart, auto parts & truck stops, Stanadyne products are good, but hard to get in some areas. Chcek with your bulk fuel suppliers (they sell bulk to farmers) they will have all of the additives: lubricity, cetane boost, biocide, etc.
I run Diesel Kleen in every tank, and a shot of biocide every other month in all of my trucks and tractors.
To clean out the tank, a "SHOCK" treatment of biocide, along with an additive that has a water disperser should do the trick. Only use products rate for diesel use, NO ALCOHOL!!!!!

another thing i forgot, i have heard somethign about additives to keep the block from rusting from the inside out. so whats a good product to add to the antifreeze?
I think what you are talking about is cavitation of the coolant. Due to the high temp and pressure created during diesel combustion, the cylinder walls actually flex. This causes small bubbles to form in the coolant and when the bubbles collapse on the cylinder wall (inside the block) they erode the metal.
The Ford or International dealer will have a coolant additive that stops cavitation.
