I just received a message from holley .com . the question I had for them was if I could use a 500 cfm 2 barrel carb on my 292 and they said that I could but not with a vaccuum advance distributor. I called around and the best price that I could find was at PAW ( pERFORMANCE AUTOMOTIVE WAREHOUSE )_ IN LOS ANGELES . SEE pawengineparts.com

Now, this is not the net, but Checker (also Kragens/Shucks) carries Motorcraft 2V carbs for about $100. Come to think about it, they do have a web site but I don't have an address. I had a real messed up carb and this ran out of the box without an adjustment. These are rebuilt by Holley and carry a year warranty. CFM varies but is around 450 which is more than enough for your six; mine sits on a 289. So if the bolt pattern works (it should) than this is way to go. As you probably know, there a millions of 4V carbs (even brand new) but few 2Vs available on a regular basis.

292 SIX??! ARE YOU NUTZ? The 292 is a V8, and a pretty decent one at that! 1964 was the last year these were ever used... I suggest a quick stopover at the Y-block forum down the page a ways :-)

Don't even know if this would work on a 292, but I have an extra 2bbl carb from a '59 Edsel 332 V8 if anyone is interested..

No, I am not nuts, just a victim of bad typing skills and worse proof reading. Anyways, for a small block, the old Autolite 2100 is a good choice for everyday driving. Adjustments, if needed, are easy and seldom required. And they are relatively cheap.

I know this is an old post- but if you are still with us, what reason did Holley give when they told you that you couldn't use a vacuum advance on your 292 with this carb?
