I am swapping out my 240 speed stick in my 73 2wd pickup with a 302 c4. I would like to install dual exhaust but I am having a bit of problem finding dual exhaust I found a few parts book with dual but they have a note that says will not fit 302. It is there some one out there selling dual or will the ones they say will not fit 302 fit.
If you want to do this yourself, go to a local muffler shop. They will sell you the pipe. You can also order it from JC Whitney. If you are going to run headers, make sure they are for the truck you have, or they wont fit.
You will still have to break the motor mounts loose to get them in. You can also go to a local mufller shop and have them do it for about $200.
I bought 2.5 inch pipe in 10' lengths for $30 each. Redhots for $18 each. headers for $95 and did it myself. Ran 2.5 pipe straight out the back.
Almost $200 total, but I wanted it done my way. Sounds reaaaally gooooood....
I did everything myself headers back except for one pipe. If you have a midship fuel tank (which you probably dont) there's a really funky bend to get up over the crossmeber and around the tank. I had midas do that for me. If you have the in-cab tank, then it should be ok.
I bought the dynomax 302 truck headers from summitt and the universal dual exhaust kit, which exits in front of the tire.
*advice* - Pay the extra and get coated headers. Mine are rusty as he11 now. Oh well, I have to replace them when the 351w goes in anyways.....
I was hoping to find a store bought set without headers. I am running headers on my firebirds and would not do it again. I did check with a local shop but he wanted $400.00 I wanted an exhaust system not gold.
