I have a broken brake line at the LF wheel. I'm pretty sure it comes from the abs pump under the drivers seating area. With all the rusty lines, and the poor view I have because of the way I have it on ramps...can't get a real good view at the routing. If anyone has been in there, and knows what I mean, I could use your help. Thanks
I posted this in the brake forum, but haven't got an answer yet. Hope there's more action in this forum.
Not sure what you are talking about. There should only be one rubber brake hose at the left fron wheel and a wire for the ABS sensor that runs next to it.
You might want to jack up the lef side and put it on a jack stand and then you can remove the wheel and see what's going on.
Thanks Gene, I've got it up on stands now. The line I'm talking about is the one the rubber line attatches too. It runs back down to the HCU. Hate theses ABS systems. I found a pretty good diagram in the Chilton's. the line in question goes to the back side of the HCU. There is a congestion of rusty brake lines, so, It's hard to tell which is which. I've had 4 brake lines break on me in this last year. One time causing a pretty good accident. So, I'd like to replace them all. I don't know if this is common, or this van was in a flood before I bought it. the ABS has been a problem since I first got it...would be nice to fix it once and for all.
I'Ve never heard of that before. It may be common in your part of the country with salt on the roads and so forth but my '94 looks pretty much as new under there.
