After a small rain I discovered a small leak under my pass side dash and looked around and discovered a previous repair done under the grill that sits between the hood and the windshield.....the repair appears to be a white almost rubber looking coating that someone smeared around in there to block up the leak.
Question 1, whats this grill called?
question 2, what should i use to re-repair this leak?
I m not sure how big a leak it will be as I m having trouble with the screws holding this grill in place.....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
it is called a (cowl panel cover) water drains through this panel and in to some rubber drains or down spouts, i have seen these fill up with dirt and leaves and then the water sits there and finds a new place to go. the wite stuff you see maybe seam sealer that has dried out and cracked. do not use any siliecone the acids in them tend to promote rust. find abody seam sealer at a parts store.
When you say you're having trouble with the screws what do you mean? Have they been reemed out or are they stuck. On mine to get the cowl cover off you have to take the bottom window molding off and remove the screws.
o.k. I now have the cowl panel ready to come off, inside and outside (the hood) sctrews are out and the drivers side popped out pretty easy, but the pass side is hanging up.....I can not see the antennea srew that holds the cable to it but I'm pretty sure there is one.......any ideas/advice?
O.K. stupid me found the tread about the antenna base and the cowl is off....if anyone is in S. Florida and ever needs to remove thier cowl panel, dont hesitate to call on me for help removing this PITA thing.
