Im still hooked on the idea of getting a Jody Tipton chip but i found a sniper tuner on the net that has 3 preset tunes on it but you can custom make your own tunes on your comp with the software and program your truck to what you want eg..(shift firmness, shif timing between shifts, torque converter lockup, engine timing, and a bunch more) has anyone tried this yet?
if i get a laptop eventually, yes i will have the software. my Diesel tech teacher is a powerstroke junkie also, and he wanted fully custom tuning software to see what a powerstroke could do. i showed him this Sniper stuff and he wanted to get some money allocated to the budget before he goes and buys it. if it breaks, the class will fix it up and try again. he knows what all parameters that the engine runs on so he will know how to custom tune it.
however i would not use the custom tuning being an average "joe" powerstroke owner. there are too many things you can adjust and very easily blow something up. leave tuning to the pro's unless you have an engine on a dyno that you want to mess with or you KNOW what you are doing.
The Sniper is very limited in what you can do. In other words it will not let you go over the top. The other version Special Ops. is the hot one. I will tell you your on your own, they are not responsible. Larry had the Sniper on his EX and we got to play with it a little. Give him a call. http://www.discountpowerparts.com/
