Diesel Fuel

Picked up my 2007 F250 Lariat FX4 PSD a week ago tomorrow and have 600 miles on it already. Awsome truck and exceedes what I was expecting. My question concerns fuel. I am trying to follow the owners guide lines concerning proper fuel. Bio-diesel for one is not supposed to exceed 5%. I found out after the fact that the first 16 gallons I put in at a BP station was 11% and was not marked as such. Asking around I find some that say 2-3% but most do not know or tell me that what ever is on the truck is what they get. Also what about the warning labels that say not to use the fuel in 2007 or newer. Every pump I see has that posted on it. Is the fuel really that critical or do most of you just go to the pump that says diesel and fill up.

A 2007 6.0 does not require ULSD. I don't think there are any emission changes for your truck. I think your 07 is basically the same as my 06. With the next Gen 6.4 motor it is imperative to only use ULSD fuel. As far as Bio-diesel in your truck, some people run it at a much higher percentage than 11% all the time. I just fill up at the pump and use Stanadyne fuel treatment. Enjoy your truck!

(#19217) 2007 F-Super Duty vehicles built with the 6.0l diesel engine have a "carry over" 2006 style engine and are not required by federal mandate to use the ultra low sulfur diesel(ulsd) fuel. Until ulsd (15 ppm) is available in october 2006, all diesel fuel pumps selling low sulfur diesel fuel (500 ppm) must use newly established labels by epa beginning june 1, 2006. The labels for these pumps state: "warning- federal law prohibits use in model year 2007 and later highway vehicles and engines." This is not the case for 2007 vehicles with the carryover 2006 engines, Therefore, both low sulfur and ultra low sulfur diesel fuels can be used in these vehicles.

Those in the know have stated you could possibly see a drop in MPG of 3%-5%.

A couple of Big Oil companies have stated some diesels...primarily older models...may experience fuel seal failures. I am not really concerned about it with the 6.0s...but, only time will tell.

I believe they really "have to" change the fuel this time to meet EPA regs, but they DO NOT "have to" increase the price...but they can though!

You can burn the new ULSD in all trucks. I have been using it for a couple of months, Atlanta got in a while back, and I keep details MPG records. Fuel mileage has NOT gone down! There is reportedly less energy in the new fuel, but I have not seen it affecting my overall average fuel mileage.

Are we going to be able to run diesel kleen with the new fuel. Somewhere I read that the new fuel and diesel kleen don't make a good combination. Anyone else heard this>

When we make the switch in Canada, its all going to ULSD no 500ppm option here. So it will be safe in your truck, just make sure you use a lubricity additive more now than ever.

I have read there is a 1-3% drop in energy content but sulfur reduces the cetane rating so the new fuel should have a better cetane rating and that is why economy ratings should be a wash.

I Have Had A 04,05, And I Am Driving A 06 And Soon Will Be Driving A O7. All Of These Trucks Have Been Running 100% Bio. I Have Been Making My Own Bio Out Of Wvo For Three Years. About 10% Power Loss No Mileage Loss. At A Cost Of .58c Per Gallon And 21mpg At 80mph With Cruise And A/c On. Thanks To The Banks Six-gun Bundle. I Was Told The Same Thing About The % Of Bio. One Of The Reasons The % Of Bio Is So Low At The Pump Is Because Bio Is A Great Solvent. If You Were To Put Bio-50 In To A Truck With Some Miles On It Your Fuel Lines Would Be Cloged With All The Diesel Build Up On The Inner Walls Of Your Fuel Tank.

Live in Ontario , Canada. Have 2006 F-250sc sd 4x4 6.0 with 4300kms on it. Confused about all this diesel talk. I've been filling it with Sunoco Gold Diesel . They say its the best around,is it??? Used Howes in my 1996 , will i void warranty if i use it in my 2006?? Truck is stock, don't want to void warranty by doing anything to it. What fuel sould i use in truck??? Payed good money for it , don't want to get poor mileage or worse damage the engine. Any suggestions would be helpful to me .THANKS

FYI---Ford motor company has noticed a large number of fuel tank delamination claims from the new england area. Just to give you something to think about.
