Ok I am about to order my new exhaust and have narrowed it down to MBRP or Banks. Both of them in the single tailpipe version. I know alot of you like the MBRP but is anyone using the Banks? What do you think of it and is it worth the $200 more that it will cost.
You must cut the flange off of the cat to use the Banks system.
With the MBRP there is no modification to the cat, in fact, you can get a cat delete pipe (to test it, of course) and always revert back to a smog legal system.
The only real reason to get the Banks system is for the name, or if you like the sound with the muffler better. If you run the muffler on either system, the sound could have just a bit of difference. If you're going to be running it straight pipe, then it won't matter between the Banks or MBRP other than price.
It's strange to see '07 trucks in fellas' sigs now. Before long there'll be '08s with the 6.4 in sigs.
They'll probably be pretty similar in sound... not any reason to pay more for the Banks IMO.
If you want to keep the tone a bit more mellow, you can look into Magnaflow. They tend to have a quieter or more mellow sound than MBRP or other brands (when using the muffler).
The other option you have with MBRP is that if you want to try the system without the muffler they have a muffler delete pipe. So you can replace the muffler and/or cat with pre-formed, fitted pipes. Your choice.
There is also the less expensive exhaust delete, but your kids would really hate that.
I've got the Banks Six Gun Tuner w/Power PDA and will get the Banks Intercooler, but I'll be relying on the MBRP for my exhaust. I did my exhaust research on FTE!
