play in steering

play in steering
I have a 79 f100 6cyl and it has a play in the steering. I have had the front end parts checked out and everything is ok. Should I try to tighten the gear box or does anyone have other suggestions. Also can you buy a rebuild kit for the gear box.

If the front steering and suspension parts have been examined for wear.
Check the steering coupler (aka rag joint) on steering shaft for wear.

Try adjusting in 1/8 turn increments the sector shaft adjustment screw by loosing the nut on the base of sector shaft cap. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...=94743&width=0 Make sure not to overtighten this screw because it can damage the steering gear box. Take your time.
